Old cemetery headstone
Here is another old cemetery headstone. The marble is worn away and you can see the smooth varnish has weathered away quite a bit. This is a massive stone and even in the original the name has been rubbed away. I can only image the work and effort it took to make such a tribute only to have the name vanish as the time passed.

In Paint Shop it’s pretty easy to use the Text and Bevel tools to carve your own name into the stone. Apply the text on its own layer, then use a bevel which cuts into the stone to make it look like one picture. It works really well and gives a nice personalized eerie nature to it.
Creepy Cemetery Picture
Here is another cemetery shot I took last year. I was taken with the rusty iron fence around the plot. I’m sure in its day it was quite oppulent and tasteful. And as you can see the tall spire is very weathered and is showing it has been there for quite a few generations.

Here is a picture I took last year of a quiet little cemetery at a local church. The cemetery has been there for several generations with many of the headstones going back to the 1850’s. The stones are very weathered and with a lot of them rain and wind has smoothed away the name and date. As you can see many of the sites are starting to crumble and fall apart.
One thing that is always interesting with a cemetery of this size and age is coming across a family plot where the dates are within a few months of each other. I assume some “plague” or disease raveged the young town and they were helpless against it. It makes you wonder what things were like during that time.
Here is my little rendition of a scary little cemetery. I have several more I plan on posting.
