Canon EOS Rebel XSI

Incorporating a number of high-end functions and technology found in Canon’s professional SLR models, the EOS Rebel XSi camera boasts an improved autofocus sensor, enhanced 14-bit A/D conversion, an advanced Live View function, and the proprietary DIGIC III image processor. EF200mm f/2L IS USM and EF800mm f/5.6L IS USM Lenses from Canon
Canon a leader in digital imaging, today announced the launch of two new telephoto lenses for use with its EOS SLR cameras: the EF200mm f/2L IS USM/ and the EF800mm f/5.6L IS USM/, the world’s longest focal length lens with an Optical Image Stabilizer system. The Company, which exhibited prototypes of the lenses during PhotoPlus Expo in New York last October, is launching them at the PMA tradeshow (booth E101) at the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 31 to February 2.
“The development of these two new lenses continues to show how Canon actively responds to the imaging needs of our professional and advanced amateur customers. The EF800mm f/5.6L IS USM and EF200mm f/2L IS USM are professional L-Series lenses that incorporate the latest generation of Canon’s high-performance Optical Image Stabilizer system (OIS), giving them a stabilization effect equivalent to a shutter speed four settings faster. In addition, they feature optical systems utilizing fluorite and UD lens elements to provide excellent chromatic aberration correction for high-resolution, high-contrast shooting performance. Both lenses use only lead-free glass, and also incorporate lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy lens barrels with enhanced resistance to moisture and dust.
The Canon EF200mm f/2L IS USM is an exceptionally sharp lens that is significantly lighter (2520g/5.5 lbs. vs. 3000g/6.6 lbs.) than its predecessor, the renowned EF200mm f/1.8L USM lens, while adding OIS and a weather-resistant design. Ideal for all kinds of low-light photography including portraiture as well as indoor sports, the EF200mm f/2L IS USM has a close-focus setting of 1.9 m/6.2 feet and a circular aperture system that enhances its background blur rendition at wide apertures.

Sony’s new SLR adds heft to full-frame market
LAS VEGAS–The heyday of 35mm film SLR cameras is long past, but one foundation of the technology is staging something of a comeback with new help from Sony.
The vast majority of digital single-lens reflex cameras today use an image sensor that’s smaller than a full frame of 35mm film, which means lenses behave somewhat differently than on a film camera. For years, only Canon sold SLRs with a full-frame sensor, but Nikon entered the market with its top-end D3 late in 2007. At the Photo Marketing Association trade show Thursday, Sony announced its forthcoming “flagship” Alpha-branded SLR will follow suit.
A300 and A350 – Sony’s Latest Snappers
Here’s a couple of new offerings from Sony – the A300 and A350.
The A350 boasts 14.2MP and is able to blast away at 2.5fps in continuous shooting. The A300 can notch up 3fps.
The DSLR-A300 kit with a DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 standard zoom lens will ship in April for about $800. The DSLR-A350 camera body will be available in March for about $800, and the DSLR-A350 kit with a DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 3.9x zoom lens will be available for about $900 at the same time.
They both offer Sony’s new “Quick AF Live View” technology allowing you to frame photos on the camera’s LCD without sacrificing auto-focusing speed common to other live-view systems.
Sony’s ‘Pentamirror Tilt’ mechanism directs light to a dedicated live view image sensor, enabling fast and responsive TTL phase-detection auto-focusing, even during live view. I’m guessing you guys understand all of that yeah?
With Live View and an adjustable LCD, the cameras don’t need to be in front of your mug. This will allow proud parents to maintain eye-contact when snapping their offspring or for paps to keep an out for security ;0,
These new models are promising tip-top imaging and crediting it to their APS-C CCD image sensors and ‘BIONZ’ processing engine.
