Good Friday – At The Track

So what do you do on a beautiful Spring day in the Carolinas when your friends all have super powered racing machines? You go to the track and take pictures of course!

I went down with Craig Waldrop of the Carolina Speed Zone and his group for a pre-Easter spin around the track at Carolina Motor Sports Park. It was an excellent day with great weather. You can’t beat a day off work and taking photos.

There was quite a selection of cars including a Dodge Viper, Lotus, Mazda Miatas, Subaru WRX and of course the day isn’t complete unless you throw in the Porsches. And did I mention the Shelby Cobras?

Have a look and enjoy!

Pictures taken with Sigma 70-200mm lens with 1.4x TC. Camera settings were ISO 100, 1/160sec.

Canon EOS 5D – MKII ?

There are specs posted on DP Review forums for the next generation 5D with some impressive changes:

A gain to 15.3MP up from 12.8MP, a 2 stop hike in light sensitivity to 25600 ISO.

The new model calls for an increase of 6fps up from 3 and will have dual Digic III processors instead of a single Digic II cpu.

The AF system will use 29 points instead of 9 and it will share the same weather sealing as the topline 1Ds Mark III, as well as live view.

I’m very excited about the prospect of this camera! Too bad the 40D couldn’t incorporate some of these features.

Leaving it all behind, to bike around the world

You just have to be impressed by this. We all dream of putting it all behind us and traveling the world, but very few of us actually take that first step. And that’s even when considering going by car or plane!

The story

In 2002, at the ages of 62 and 48, Pat and Catherine Patterson decided to leave it all behind. They sold their real estate business and their cars, gave their furniture to their children, and put their home up for rent. Strapping their remaining possessions to two bicycles, the couple set off to bike around the world.

Fifty-seven countries, four continents and almost four years later, the Pattersons look back on their journey as something no less than life-changing.

In 1985, Pat Patterson got his first taste of freedom behind the handlebars of a bicycle when he went on a short tour through China. The trip changed his perspective. “I was beginning to see things differently,” he says.
