Not quite a bike, but much cooler

The quest for the bike did not go as planned, but I ended up getting something much cooler, albeit much more difficult to ride.

For the past few weeks I’ve been looking at bike trainers. Riding my stationary bike is getting a little old and is nowhere near the same experience as riding a real bike. I finally decide to make my choice and got the CycleOps Fluid2. And let me tell you, that thing is one hell of a workout!

In the lower gears the bike feels basically the same as when it’s on the street. But when you hit the higher gears and get some speed, the resistance kicks in and the workout really picks up. After the first 5 minutes I could start to feel it. After 10 minutes I could really feel it. By 30 minutes it became the hardest bike ride I’d ever been on. It was fantastic. Being able to change gears, drop to the lower gears to rest a little and stand up to relieve the posterior fatigue makes it so much more enjoyable to ride.

It’s my first run with it, but so far it’s great. It’s low noise, easy to use and it’s a lot of fun to ride a real bike on it. I’m tempted to get back on and take it for another spin.
