Pouring down rain

Well this ought to make things interesting, it’s pouring and there’s lightning all over the place. It’s just to cool things off for tomorrow right? Clearly not going to actually rain while I’m riding is it? :)

Doing my final prep work then Burn Notice.

It’s all downhill

I did another casual ride of 22 miles last night to get ready for this ride on Saturday. I won’t be riding tonight, but instead getting everything ready. I’m not sure what I need so this could take me anywhere from several hours to five minutes. I know I need a bike and helmet that is about the only thing I’m certain of. And I need my shoes. I won’t get too far without those.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure I know where I’m even going. I signed up and figured I would deal with the details later. Well, I guess now is later and I better know where I’m going.

It’s looking very cloudy and dark out there. I’m sure the rain will be coming soon. It wasn’t supposed to rain tomorrow, but now there is a forecast for light thunderstorms. Hopefully it will hold off until I’m done.

I don’t know what course I’ll be following but my personal goal is to complete the distance is around 3:00 hours. I don’t know if I’ll be able to maintain 20mph the whole distance so anything under 4:00 hours would be great and less than 3:30 would be pretty darn impressive.

Here’s to hoping for the best.

Prepping for “The Ride”

I feel woefully unprepared for this bike ride I’m doing on Saturday. I haven’t done one of these before so I have no idea what you’re supposed to do, but I feel like I should be doing something. I should be buying stuff, attaching things, inspecting items, trying on something. All I’ve done is add a little more riding to my nightly routine. I’m riding for an hour and half just to make sure I don’t get completed winded right off the bat.

Tonight, I will put the bike I will actually ride with on the trainer just to make sure everything is working and adjusted properly. It worked great at the beach so I have no concerns, but I just want check.

Seriously it seems like there should be more to this. I mean 63 miles isn’t really that far, not like crossing the country or anything so exotic as that, but it’s more than just a trip around the block.

But of course the big question is, what do I do when I need to go to the bathroom?
