Does Bike GU really work?

While I was at BikeSource last night I bought some of these Bike GU packets because Donna felt I needed them. I’ve never tried them before, so, do they work? I did buy some PowerBars for this upcoming ride, so I guess these are similar, but does this stuff help? If you read my previous post I was pretty worn out by mile 45-50 so I hope they help with the fatigue at that stage.

I’ll be giving them a shot, just curious if they’re worth the money. $1.50 to $2.50 for a small packet of goo is kinda expensive. :)

Cateye Wireless Strada bike computer

I picked up my new Cateye Wireless Strada bike computer from Bikesource last night. This is the wireless model that will go on the bike I use in my trainer. I tried another wireless model but it didn’t have enough reach to actually get a reading from the handlebars. Not to worry though, it will go on my mountain bike. I don’t have to worry about it getting wound up in my shocks or anything.

I didn’t actually get it hooked to the bike last night since I was late in riding it. I’ll try and get it done tonight. I got the computer portion set and got a signal from the unit so at least it appears to be working. I put it where I think it will eventually go and did get a speed reading from the back wheel. The sensor is huge!

I’ll be getting my gear ready for Saturday, but I’m anxious to get this connected and see what kind of speed and distance I’m doing on the trainer. I’m pretty sure I average about 13-15 mph and go about 8 miles during my 40 minute ride.
