Software update redux

Well here we are again. And once again it’s 5am. Funny thing is, the drive into work was extremely quick, but I wasn’t the only one on the road at 4:30. Who are all these other people and where are they going? What could they possibly be doing at this hour?

Anyway, we’re about to try and light this candle again. We were still having power glitches throughout the day yesterday, but I hear talk they got it all worked out. I have to say my confidence is a little shaken at the moment. And I’m not the only one, there is a feeling of anxiety in the air. However, everything will be right as rain as soon as we have some of these breakfast biscuits. That cures everything!

Here’s to hoping. Once we start this upgrade we can’t roll back…

The tension mounts…

Pull the ripcord! Bail out! Bail out!!

Wow, that’s gone wrong! Right as we’re getting to start the updates and bring everyone offline, we lost power at the data center and the servers went offline on their own! That was completely unexpected! Seriously, who loses power at their data center? Isn’t there some sort of Russian surplus generator that keeps buildings online in situations like this?

At any rate the whole thing is scrapped and we’re going to try again tomorrow. We’ve spent the last three hours trying to get the servers back online. Things are slowly coming back but everything is a mess. There is a lot of gnashing of teeth going on around here. I think I’ll just keep my head down. Glad I had nothing to do with this.

Time for a massive software update

Well, it’s 5am, what are you doing right now? Me? I’m sitting in front of my computer at work getting ready for a major software update to start. We normally kick these things off at 6am, but this has a lot of additional pieces that we need extra time to make it all work.

Everyone is pretty spritely for this hour of the morning. I’m not sure if the plan on bringing in breakfast, but I have to say, I’m a little hungry. I wonder what kind of vittles I have tucked away in this file cabinet?

Who’s up for flapjacks?!
