BETRNSX – Carrera GT

It’s hard to say if the Carrera is indeed better than sex, but there is no doubt that looking at it causes lust and envy. The GT is a beautiful machine and video games don’t do it justice. It looks powerful, dangerous and fast just sitting there. On display at the Porsche Parade was perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this wondrous machine and the smooth, sleek lines it has to offer.

The crowd of people gathered around to take pictures, point, stare and of course ponder what they would give to possess it, was a spectacle unto itself. Kids jumped to pose in front of it, men undressed it with their eyes, and we all waited our turn to grab a picture with this seductive creature.

I doubt I’ll ever get to see it or another one again, but it was a real thrill to take its photo. If you didn’t make it out to the Parade today, you missed a magic moment.

Good Friday – At The Track

So what do you do on a beautiful Spring day in the Carolinas when your friends all have super powered racing machines? You go to the track and take pictures of course!

I went down with Craig Waldrop of the Carolina Speed Zone and his group for a pre-Easter spin around the track at Carolina Motor Sports Park. It was an excellent day with great weather. You can’t beat a day off work and taking photos.

There was quite a selection of cars including a Dodge Viper, Lotus, Mazda Miatas, Subaru WRX and of course the day isn’t complete unless you throw in the Porsches. And did I mention the Shelby Cobras?

Have a look and enjoy!

Carolina Motor Sport Park -March

It took me longer to get this album together than I wanted, but here it is. I spent the first weekend of March at the Carolina Motorsports Park with the Carolina Porsche Club. A very nice day with a rather impressive display of cars. I never get tired of seeing the Porsche GT3, however there were several other beauties which made their appearance. A pair of GT3 RS machines hit the track as well as a Nissan Skyline (which I have never actually seen before), an interesting Lotus (I think), a whole slew of Porsche Caymans as well as a VW Scirocco. Some wild paint jobs were on display too, one of which was a multi-color one which changed color depending on how the light reflected off it; unusual and amusing. Even a GT2 was on hand and if you look really closely you might see a Corvette Z06 pretending to look a lot like a Porsche.

As always a big thanks to Harvey Yancey for letting me come out there, too bad I didn’t get any pictures of him on the track. Regrettably his machine suffered some mechanical issues and wasn’t quite up to track readiness. A real disappointment considering the new suspension and transmission had just been installed. And further this was the first run of the new track configuration at Kershaw.

Harvey took it all in stride and eased his sorrows by teaching his student in a Porsche GT3 (#48), tough work… :)

I hope you enjoy the shots!
