Corel Paintshop Pro X3 for $29.99

The new version of PaintShop Pro is out, but I managed to grab a copy for even less than their advertised price. Corel sent me an email flyer for the new version at a cool low price of $49.99. I thought that was a great price however it gets better. I was able to use the coupon BONUSBUCKS20 to get another $20 off the price. So I bought the new PaintShop Pro X3 for $29.99, that’s a pretty damn sweet deal!

Not sure how long the lower price will last, but I think it will go for the rest of this week. I’m sure they’ll mark it down again, but I see no reason to wait.

I’m excited about the new features, but I have to say the UI looks a little quirky.

Error 1935 with Corel Draw X5

I managed to find a few spare minutes so I installed Corel Draw X5 to check it out. It actually turned into quite an ordeal just to get it installed. As soon as it hit 9% it would throw an Error 1935 and setup would crash. After multiple failed attempts and using two different download files I found some articles that said it was caused by anti-virus. I tried turning off AVG Internet Security, but it didn’t make a difference, I still got the same error. I was starting to get testy since my 15 minute install had now taken over an hour with no results at all. Out of frustration I uninstalled AVG and Corel Draw installed fine with errors.

It seems there really is some compatibility issue between Corel Draw X5 and AVG. I have the anti-virus software back on there but this install was a complete pain. I’m not sure who’s to blame here, but nothing worked until AVG was removed.

Anyway, if you run into Error 1935 it could be a problem with your AV software. Since I spent so much time on the install checking out Corel Draw will have to wait until another day.

Why does Corel keep doing this to me?

Every time I purchase an upgrade at their discounted price, a few days later they come out with a whole new version. I just bought the Uber Deluxe Paint Shop Pro X2 Ultimate Edition complete with all the bells and whistles and today Corel sends out that the X3 edition is available. Curse you! I haven’t even had my version for two months and now there’s a yet another upgrade. The insensitivity of it all!

I’m not sure if I even need this new edition. I’m sure I’ll download the trial and see what it has to offer.

However, if you’re looking for a deal you can buy the new Paint Shop Pro X3 for $59. However, I have another trick up my sleeve. If you use the coupon BONUSBUCKS20 you will save another $20 off the price. Not 20%, but $20. So now you buy it and tell me how cool it is.
