I was out driving today and came across this old shack near the side of the
road. I wanted to get a picture of it, so I pulled over to check it out. What I
found was several old shacks, wagon wheels and even an old Ford pickup that
looks like Mater's cousin. I went wandering around for well over an hour and was
just fascinated. I kept wondering what these houses must have looked like when
they were new, who lived in them, and what life must have been like. Even though
it was all leaning over with splitting wood and overgrown weeds, it had a
natural beauty to it as well.
Who knows how long these things have been out there baking in the sun, by the
look of the truck, it's been awhile. It's funny to think this is all 5 minutes
away from my house. It could have been quite the prosperous community or
plantation during it's day, but sadly, those days are gone.
But I will have to go back and see what else I can find. I'm sure I've just
scratched the surface.
